fluffybun: flying Emolga (happy)

Dear Librarian,

Hello! First of all, I'm so happy that someone has chosen to write for any of my requests in this wonderful fic exchange that isn't like any other :) So many stories/manga I'd love to read for its own sake but they are of course dominated by the main stories they're found in - anything you'd write for me that would give me a glimpse of what these fictional canons are would be wonderful!

For an idea of my general likes/dislikes, follow this link - but as this is an exchange following fictional canons and reproducing them, as long as you feel you've done that, then feel free to ignore/apply my list of general likes/dislikes :)

I've summarized what we know of each canon as best I could and given some prompts, but feel free to ignore them if you've found something you want to focus on in each fictional canon :) (I know I've only scratched the surface on the possibilities for all of them!)

Anne of Green Gables

Avonlea Notes (notes by Gilbert Blythe as "observer")

What We Know: "Avonlea Notes", written by "Observer", appeared in the Charlottetown newspaper in Anne of Avonlea and many thought it to be authored by Charlie Sloane because of previous literary attempts and because one of the notes 'seemed to embody a sneer at Gilbert Blythe'. It was revealed that the author was Gilbert, helped by Anne, and he deliberately put that one note about himself as a blind. Two notes were cited: a wedding 'ere the daisies are in bloom' involving 'a new and highly respected citizen' and 'one of our most popular ladies', which was supposed to be about Mr. Harrison and Isabella Andrews (and caused later events to unfold), and Uncle Abe predicting a storm (which did occur).

For all that Gilbert was presented as the nice boy next door, he always had some sass/snark in him to have penned the Avonlea Notes. What were some of the things that Gilbert chose to write about other than what was excerpted in Anne of Avonlea? Any other blind items from the people in Avonlea other than the ones that were mentioned? (Maybe involving other people we know from the series? And what would those be?) And had there been followups (maybe it was popular because of some of them coming true?), what would have been written? What was the one note that Gilbert threw in that seemed to be a sneer at himself?

Averil's Atonement - Anne Shirley (short story)

What We Know: Averil's Atonement was a short story written by Anne Shirley during Anne of the Island which was later edited and submitted to a contest for advertising Rollings Reliable baking powder by Diana Blythe (adding the name of the company at the scene where Averil bakes the ccake and to Percival's pronouncement at the end). Averil was described as queenlike, who declined her suitors graciously. The hero's name was Perceval Dalrymple (considered to be too good by Mr. Harrison to the point of aggravating and having no time for anything but 'mooning'.). There was also a hired boy who stayed with the Lesters (not stated who the Lesters were in the story), whom Diana christened as Robert Ray (Bobby). The villain's name was Maurice Lennox, whom Diana and Mr. Harrison both liked best of all. (Diana believed one could have reformed him; Mr. Harrison said he was twice the man Perceval was for 'he did bad things, but he did them. Perceval hadn't time for anything but mooning.') There is a scene where Averil bakes the cake which is humorous. There is also a sunset scene which Mr. Harrison advised Anne to cut out.

So many things I'd love to see from this - the hilarious scene with the cake, Percival's proposal and Averil's acceptance that were pages long, the sunset scene that Anne painfully had to cut out, the death of Maurice Lennox... and why is the story called Averil's Atonement? What does she need to atone for? Closer looks at each of the characters would be welcome - why is Maurice Lennox the character everyone likes the most? Was his backstory explained? What was Perceval talking about for two pages' worth (much to Mr. Harrison's dismay but Anne thought would win any girl's heart)?

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

Girl Princess 3 (doujinshi), Girl Princess 3 (video game)

What we know: Girl Princess 3 is a dating simulation game that Mikorin was playing and asked Nozaki-kun for help with in chapter 8 of the manga. In this game, the goal was to achieve the best ending with the girl of your choice, one of which was named Kaori (the kind classmate type) throughout the protagonist's three years of high school. (Other girls shown were Asuka, Sayuri, and other girls not named). The nameless protagonist also has a friend named Tomoda who gives him updates on his affection levels with the girls, helps him get into scenarios that will increase affection (giving him movie tickets, encouraging him at critical moments, even protecting him when it came to fights with gangs) and culminating in the final scene shown in the game where he tells the protagonist "Three years somehow went by fast. I'm glad to have met you." The unwavering support Tomoda gave the protagonist then led Mikorin and Nozaki to want a happy ending for him, hence Nozaki and Mikorin making a doujinshi (fan-made manga) of him, but ended up making it a confession of the protagonist's love to Tomoda and Tomoda saying the immortal line: "I... Only watching you... was enough..."

I'd love anything exploring either the game or the doujinshi that Nozaki and Mikorin make.

Game: How do the scenarios we see in the game really play out? (And how many times does Tomoda bail out the nameless protagonist in his attempting to woo the girl of his choice?) What kind of girls are in this game and how would any of their routes go? Is there an underlying deeper story to the game (for why is it called Girl Princess) - is someone a princess? Are there surprise endings?

Doujinshi: Does the doujinshi they make explore what Tomoda was feeling as he helped the protagonist with his courting 12 pretty girls? What happens after that confession? And would the 12 pretty girls (or any of them) feel threatened by Tomoda's and the protagonist's closeness? How would they have taken the news of Tomoda/Protagonist?

Secret Days (video game)

What we know: Secret Days is an otome game given by Ken-san to Nozaki who plays it with Wakamatsu and Hori-senpai. The female protagonist has the choice of many boys - a senpai (with yandere tendencies), classmates, a rich boy bochama type (whose family has gone bankrupt in the middle of the game), and the normal type boy with nothing special about him (who suddenly reveals that he is Satan when Nozaki et. al. thought he was about to confess to the protagonist), the latter of which leads to a fantastical ending with both of them having wings and ascending up to heaven. (Hinting that this might be the true end.) This ending spurred the three boys to play the other boys seriously with Nozaki then telling Ken-san the immortal line "he was really a sakura fairy" while crying.

I'm especially interested in the route of the boy who is really Satan - why is he, if he is Satan, in high school? What is his story and how do both of them eventually have wings (and Satan is accepted into heaven)? What does being a 'sakura fairy' mean (and is this Satan, or is this another boy?) - is this the underlying true story behind the story? (Why is this game called Secret Days, after all?) How does the rich boy turned pauper story turn out? Or the kind senpai turned possessive yandere turn out? Are there possibilities for threesomes?

Let's Fall in Love (fictional manga)

What we know: Mamiko is a shy girl who tries her best in high school whose heart flutters for Suzuki-kun, her classmate. She tends to have numerous rivals for him, but it is clear that Suzuki-kun does care for Mamiko in his own way. Secondary characters in the manga include the characters Nozaki based on Wakamatsu and Seo, who have a relationship fraught with misunderstandings - the boy tends to antagonize the girl but secretly gives her messages of encouragement.

The manga hints at certain personality traits of Mamiko and Suzuki - Suzuki's trying hard in secret and his taking good care of his skin (that Ken-san never wants to see), Mamiko's tenacity in fighting her rivals for Suzuki-kun even with her shyness. How did some of Nozaki's deleted drafts really play out? (ex: The one based on Nozaki's, Kashima's and Hori's trip into the school at night which led to Suzuki going with the love rival and Mamiko saying she would fall in love with a better man? Or the one with the three Suzuki-kuns charming Mamiko, how would that have worked? The one with the four-seater bicycle?)

I'm also very interested in the characters Nozaki based on Waka and Seo: how does their story play out in the manga (especially considering how Nozaki feels about the characters even with hearts fluttering over their development)? Does the girl ever find out that the rude boy and the one who calls her to cheer her up secretly are the same?

The Chronicles of Chrestomanci

Millie Goes to School (book)

What We Know: The first book series (10 books) that Christopher gives to Millie in exchange for Throgmorten. Titles of the series include: Millie Goes to School, Millie of Lowood House, Millie Plays the Game, Millie's Finest Hour, Millie in the Upper Fourth, and Head Girl Millie. Millie becomes Head Girl and beats Delphinia (her enemy). In the books, some of what Millie does: 'do Prep and eat stodge and learn French and play hockey and write lines-'; the Goddess then wants to be like Millie and 'cheek the Prefects and cheat in Geography tests and sneak on my friends! I want to be bad as well as good! I want to go to school and be bad, do you hear!'

This series was very important to Millie (the Goddess), and I'd love to see more of it, anything about it! Like Millie said, life at the boarding school, anything I'd eat up: of sassing the prefects of having fun with chums and studying (of cheating in Geography??), of maybe Millie and her becoming Head Girl and beyond. What does she do after school? Does she get her happy ending? Is there anything in Millie's past? All the boarding school hijinks and possible mishaps she can get into (maybe involving other boarding schools or even just hers)? And is Millie a good hockey player? So many possible things to write about in this fictional canon - I'd love to read anyone's take on it. :)

The Princess Bride - William Goldman

Buttercup's Baby (book)

What We Know: The supposed sequel to The Princess Bride, but we only have a few excerpts found in the later editions of The Princess Bride. Some events we do know from these excerpts: Buttercup and Westley have a child named Waverly who grew up with Inigo as her guard and Fezzik as her babysitter; Waverly then gets kidnapped by Humperdinck;s men and Fezzik gets into peril for her (the text says explicitly "Fezzik had no choice. He dove into space after her, gave up his life for the child..." and the title of the chapter is Fezzik Dies), though Goldstein says he doesn't believe Fezzik really dies, Inigo's backstory where he trains with masters and then eventually meets Giulietta, his love, but then they part for unexplained reasons, the excerpts directly following the events of the Princess Bride (Inigo wounded, Fezzik shot, everyone being chased, Westley stops breathing, and Buttercup thinks of foliage, they all make it to the ship Revenge where everyone is treated, their escape to One Tree Island where Buttercup and Westley make love, Waverly's miraculous birth 9 months later).

I still mourn that we don't have the canon :( I'd love anything continuing the excerpts we were given: Waverly and how she grows up (and all her miadventures with Fezzik and Inigo guarding her and Westley and Buttercup as her parents, Fezzik's, Buttercup's, Westley's, and Inigo's lives (I like to believe, like William Goldman, that Fezzik does not die even though the chapter title says so - how does he not? Could there be a deux ex machina that appears at the last moment?) Does Inigo meet the woman he loved again? (For what was the point of giving us that excerpt on Inigo's lost love if it wasn't coming up some way or other? Is anything from Inigo's past explained further? Why did they part?) Does Westley, Buttercup, Inigo (and Fezzik?) have a confrontation with Humperdinck about Waverly and why he planned to kidnap her? Does any of them get their happily-ever-after?

This is such a wonderful exchange and I'm glad to be participating in it. I hope you have a lot of fun too, mystery author~ Again, thank you for writing for me, mystery author, and I'm sure I'll love whatever you write :)

Love,
